Cash Anthony
Cash lives in Houston, Texas, after leaving her hometown of Austin where she did her part to “keep Austin weird.”
She was involved in theatre there as an actor, then lived in Europe for five years, in London and in Zweibrucken on the German/French border. While in Germany, she worked again as an actor and later as a director for stage.
When she returned to the U.S., she completed her degree in the Plan II Liberal Arts program at the University of Texas at Austin (“Hook em, Horns!”) and graduated from UT School of Law, settling in Space City. Along the way, she wrote and edited — features and shorts and pitch decks, a reference book for UT Press and a two-volume book on motorcycle safety, legal articles for the Review of Litigation law journal, novels, poems, newsletters, legal pleadings and briefs, blogs, articles — anything her blazing pen could create. She also served as an adjunct professor of legal research and writing at the University of Houston Law School.
After practicing law for 12 years as a prosecutor and consumer advocate, she decided to let writing take over her life while her husband, attorney Tim Hogan, became her own “patron of the arts.” She’s studied screenwriting and storytelling for many years and has written, produced, and directed three short films, as well as directing and producing for stage in Houston. Now she frequently provides editing services to other writers.
Cash is the author of a mystery series featuring Jessie Carr, biker chick/avenging angel — a female paladin with no fixed address or family.
In creating Jessie, Cash draws on her own 30+ years as an avid motorcyclist with over 300,000 miles on two wheels, touring the U.S. with her riding partner, James R. Davis. She now produces a podcast with Jim, called “Road Tested,” and writes two newsletters, Throttle Talk and Blazing Pen.
In Houston, Cash has been a member of The Final Twist Writers Society since 2007, serving in various offices with that group and giving presentations on many aspects of the writing craft. She is currently the group’s president.
She’s also been “Mom” to a Golden Doodle, three Siberian Huskies, five cats, and three parakeets. She enjoys gardening and loves to cook.
